A Wild Man Drinking Company Product
Wild Man Lab partnered with Wild Man Drinking Company to develop a premium vacuum-insulated cocktail shaker featuring an integrated jigger, built-in strainer, leak-resistant gasket system, and custom packaging. From concept development and CAD design to manufacturing, quality control, and logistics, our team helped bring the product to market in under a year.
The Opportunity
Wild Man Drinking Company challenged us with a simple goal: create the best-looking and best-functioning cocktail shaker on the market.
Cocktail shakers have been around for decades, but many still suffer from the same problems. They leak, require separate tools for measuring and straining, get cold while shaking, and often rely on friction-fit lids that can become difficult to remove. While there were plenty of options on the market, we felt there was an opportunity to create something that functioned better and looked better.
Product Development
Development of the Fancy Man Cocktail Shaker began in March 2025. Starting with a blank canvas, our team explored countless design directions to find the right balance between appearance, functionality, and manufacturability. Because the product would ultimately be mass-produced, every design decision had to not only look good, but also be capable of being manufactured consistently and cost-effectively.
Throughout development, we created dozens of CAD iterations and 3D printed prototypes to refine every aspect of the product. The exterior faceted geometry, integrated measuring system, built-in strainer, thread design, surface finishes, and overall user experience were continuously evaluated and improved. Rather than changing one feature at a time, each prototype incorporated multiple refinements, allowing us to accelerate development and quickly identify the best solutions.
By the end of May 2025, the design was finalized and ready to move into tooling and production development.

Engineering Challenges
One of the biggest challenges during development was balancing aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability across every feature of the product. While the final design appears simple, nearly every component went through multiple iterations before reaching its final form.
The integrated strainer required extensive testing to find the right balance between flow rate, filtering performance, appearance, and manufacturability. We also explored multiple measurement systems and indicator layouts to ensure users could quickly and accurately measure ingredients without sacrificing the clean appearance of the shaker.
Another key challenge was developing the threaded lid system. We wanted the lid to be removed with approximately a half-turn while still providing a secure, leak-resistant seal. Achieving this required careful refinement of the thread geometry, spacing, and gasket interfaces throughout the development process.
Even the overall size and appearance of the shaker required significant evaluation. The product needed to hold enough liquid for practical use while maintaining a comfortable grip and balanced proportions. At the same time, we refined the exterior geometric pattern through multiple iterations to ensure it looked visually striking from every angle and complemented the premium positioning of the product.
Manufacturing & Tooling
With the design finalized in less than 3 months, the project moved into manufacturing development. Because this was our first stainless steel consumer product, we worked closely with our manufacturing partner to understand the capabilities and limitations of the hydroforming process, as well as the design requirements needed for successful production.
The Fancy Man Cocktail Shaker consists of multiple stainless steel and silicone components, each requiring its own tooling. In total, the project required eight molds, including tooling for the shaker base, lid, cap, and food-safe silicone gaskets. Every component was designed by Wild Man Lab, reviewed with the manufacturer, and refined through prototype sampling before final approval.
Throughout the tooling process, we collaborated directly with the manufacturer to optimize dimensions, tolerances, and assembly requirements. By combining our product development expertise with their manufacturing knowledge, we were able to refine the design into a product that could be produced consistently at scale while maintaining the quality and functionality we envisioned.

Quality Control
A great design means very little if it cannot be produced consistently. From the beginning, functionality and appearance were two of the most important quality metrics for the Fancy Man Cocktail Shaker. Every unit needed to look premium, operate smoothly, and perform exactly as intended.
To achieve this, we worked with our manufacturing partner to establish inspection procedures and quality standards for production. Critical dimensions, thread engagement, gasket performance, surface finish, and overall assembly were all evaluated to ensure the shaker met our expectations before reaching customers.
Particular attention was given to the threaded lid and cap system, as even small dimensional variations could affect sealing performance and user experience. By identifying key control variables and defining acceptable tolerances, we were able to create a repeatable manufacturing process capable of producing high-quality products at scale.
The result was a cocktail shaker that not only looked great out of the box, but also delivered the consistent functionality customers expect from a premium product.
Packaging
With a premium product, the experience begins long before the customer uses it. We knew that if we invested heavily into the design and functionality of the shaker, the packaging needed to reflect that same level of quality.
To achieve this, we developed a custom foil box with a foam insert designed to securely hold and display the product. The foam helps protect the shaker during shipping while creating a clean presentation when the box is opened. Every detail was considered to ensure the packaging felt as premium as the product inside.
While this approach added cost compared to a traditional retail box, we believed the improved presentation and customer experience were well worth the investment. The result is packaging that reinforces the premium positioning of the Fancy Man Cocktail Shaker from the moment it arrives in the customer's hands.

Results
After completing development, tooling, production, quality control, packaging, and logistics, the Fancy Man Cocktail Shaker officially launched in November 2025 through Wild Man Drinking Company's website and TikTok Shop.
Since launch, the product has generated more than 50 million video views across social media and quickly became the #1 selling cocktail shaker on TikTok Shop. Customer response has been overwhelmingly positive, earning a 4.9-star rating from more than 150 reviews and surpassing 2,000+ sales on TikTok Shop alone, with additional sales generated through the company's website.
The success of the product has led to multiple production runs, continued expansion of the product line, and new opportunities for custom laser engraving and promotional products. Most importantly, it demonstrated the ability of Wild Man Lab to take a consumer product from an initial concept all the way through design, engineering, manufacturing, quality control, packaging, and delivery to the warehouse
What We Learned
Every product teaches valuable lessons, and the Fancy Man Cocktail Shaker was no exception. As our first stainless steel consumer product, it provided firsthand experience with the unique challenges that come with designing for hydroforming, vacuum insulation, and large-scale production. While many products appear simple from the outside, countless decisions related to tolerances, assembly, and manufacturability ultimately determine the quality of the final product.
One of the biggest takeaways was the importance of balancing design intent with manufacturing realities. Throughout development, we learned where appearance should take priority, where functionality should take priority, and how small changes to thread geometry, weld placement, gasket design, and part tolerances can significantly impact the customer experience.
The project also reinforced the value of rapid iteration and close collaboration with manufacturing partners. By testing ideas early, refining prototypes, and incorporating manufacturing feedback throughout the process, we were able to identify potential issues before they became costly production problems.
Most importantly, the project demonstrated that successful product development extends far beyond creating a great-looking CAD model. Bringing a product to market requires careful consideration of engineering, tooling, quality control, packaging, logistics, and customer experience. By managing each of these stages, we were able to transform an idea into a successful consumer product that continues to grow today.
